Several high-value dam and reservoir projects highlighted substantial investments aimed at long-term water security and climate-resilient infrastructure. The region also emphasized reducing system losses, improving distribution efficiency, and implementing smart water management technologies. Moreover, Public-Private Partnerships played a critical role in accelerating project execution and improving overall service delivery.

In the Central Zone, states such as Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh undertook extensive water infrastructure projects to strengthen both urban and rural water supply systems. In FY 2024-25, Biltrax tracked nearly 659 water supply & distribution projects in the South Zone through its BX-2 platform, with an estimated construction cost of 37,482 INR-Crore. Of these, the majority (648 projects) were in the Pre-Construction stage, while 11 projects were Under Construction. In terms of construction cost, pre-construction projects accounted for 36,309 INR-Crore, under-construction projects for 1,173 INR-Crore.

State-wise Construction Overview of the South Zone

Of the total projects tracked by BX-2 in the South Zone during FY 2024–25, Karnataka led the region with the highest total construction value. It recorded 220 projects with a combined construction cost of 14,617 INR-Crore, accounting for 39% of the total in the region. Telangana followed with 34 projects valued at 8,218 INR-Crore (21.93%). Karnataka’s leading position was driven by continuous efforts to modernize its water distribution framework and expand access across growing urban clusters and underserved rural regions.

The state emphasized the execution of high-value projects focusing on pipeline augmentation, reservoir capacity enhancement. Out of the total projects, almost all were in the pre-construction phase. Around 73 projects were in the “Contractor – Tendering” stage, while 116 projects had advanced to the “Contractor – Appointed” stage. The remaining projects were in the proposed stage.

Chhattisgarh followed with 22 projects valued at 600 INR-Crore, representing 2.84% of the overall construction value.
