Adani Group to set up 25,000 INR-Crore Ultra-Thermal Power Plant in Bhagalpur, Bihar

Adani Power has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from the Bihar State Power Generation Company to set up an estimated 25,000 INR-Crore Thermal Power Plant in Bhagalpur. This will mark the state’s largest private investment to date.

The proposed 2,400 MW ultra-supercritical facility will be located in Pirpainti village. Furthermore, it will supply 2,274 MW of electricity exclusively to Bihar utilities. The Adani Thermal Power Plant in Bhagalpur will also feature three 800 MW units built under the DBFOO (Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate) model.

Adani Power won the bid with the lowest tariff of 6.075 INR per unit. The first unit is expected to be commissioned within 48 months, and the final unit within 60 months. Meanwhile, coal for the plant will be sourced from Jharkhand’s Rajmahal mines under the SHAKTI policy, ensuring consistent fuel supply. Over 1,000 Acres of land have already been acquired for the project.
