Adani Group wins 63,000 INR-Crore Energy Projects in Assam

Adani Group received Letters of Award from the Assam Government for major power projects. The projects represent a combined estimated investment of 63,000 INR-Crore. Of these, Adani Power will develop a 3,200 MW ultra-super critical thermal plant with an investment of about 48,000 INR-Crore. Adani projects in Assam further include two pumped-storage facilities with a total capacity of 2,700 MW. These projects will improve grid stability, and they will enhance overall power reliability.

Separately, Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) will invest 15,000 INR-Crore in two pumped-storage projects. Furthermore, these units will stabilise the grid and store renewable energy. These developments in Assam by Adani will proceed under the Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO).

Also, the pumped-storage units will provide steady energy reserves to meet peak demand. Furthermore, the company secured coal linkage under the SHAKTI Policy, and the project will start phased commissioning in December 2030. APL has secured the requisite approvals from the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission. Moreover, the company will execute the Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with APDCL in due course.

The project will generate direct and indirect employment for around 20,000 to 25,000 people during construction. Gautam Adani, Founder and Chairman, Adani Group, noted that the northeast emerged as a strategic zone for national development. Adani Assam initiatives will accelerate regional energy security, and these investments will reshape the entire northeastern corridor.
