Adani Power to invest 10,500 INR-Crore for 800 MW thermal power project in MP

Adani Power received a letter of award (LoA) from MP Power Management Company Ltd (MPPMCL) for supplying power from a new 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal plant in Anuppur district. The project will cost an estimated 10,500 INR-Crore and include plant and related infrastructure. 

Adani will execute the project under the Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model. The unit will be commissioned within 54 months from the appointed date. Furthermore, Adani stated that the project will support Madhya Pradesh’s (MP) increasing power demand. Moreover, coal for the project will come under the Central Government’s SHAKTI policy allocation. Additionally, the Anuppur plant will strengthen state and national energy security while ensuring competitive tariffs.

During construction, the project will create 6,000 to 7,000 jobs, and once operational, it will employ 1,000 personnel. This project in MP will expand the footprint of Adani and showcase advanced technology in thermal generation. In the past 12 months, the company received three other major orders. In the month of September 2024, it secured a 6,600 MW composite supply order with Adani Green Energy from Maharashtra. Also in May 2025, it gained a 1,600 MW allocation from Uttar Pradesh. In August 2025, it obtained a 2,400 MW contract from Bihar. Together, these orders highlight rapid growth and ongoing commitment to capacity expansion.
