The Maharashtra Government has unveiled the ambitious Nagpur Maha Vista project, a 1,000 INR-Crore initiative aimed at modernizing the Vidhan Bhavan complex in Civil Lines. Inspired by Delhi’s Central Vista, the proposal seeks to transform Nagpur into a future-ready legislative hub while retaining the dignity of its architectural legacy.
The project will significantly expand the current built-up area from 1.3 Lakh-sqFt to 9 Lakh-sqFt. The Nagpur Maha Vista campus will feature a central hall, updated assembly, and council chambers. Additionally, it will include a cabinet hall and four multi-storeyed buildings to accommodate ministers and party offices. A separate 14-storeyed tower for Mantralaya and legislature offices will also be built. This will be further connected to the main complex via an underpass.

Designed by renowned architects Darshini Shah and Hafeez Contractor, the Nagpur Maha Vista blueprint follows the theme “Building on Legacy, Designing for the Future.” This guiding philosophy ensures the sanctity of the historic Vidhan Bhavan is preserved, even as modern facilities and technologies are integrated seamlessly. This blueprint, prepared by the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC), was presented to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Fadnavis gave his nod to the project. It will now be sent for approval to the respective departments for further processing.
To address the expected rise in legislators after delimitation, the government has approved additional land for expansion. This includes a 9,000 SqM parcel located behind the current building, with negotiations underway for another key plot near the main gate. The new Nagpur Maha Vista complex will also feature digital infrastructure, larger cabins, and a dedicated Mantralaya building. This will further facilitate smoother governance operations.
