ArcelorMittal, on Monday, December 22, unveiled three new green energy projects in India with a combined estimated investment of 900 US$-Million. The announcement highlights the company’s commitment to clean energy and positions ArcelorMittal as a key player in India’s renewable transition.
Under the announced projects, 36 MW solar production will be set up in Amaravati, Maharashtra. A 400 MW solar and 500 MWh battery energy storage project is planned in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Additionally, ArcelorMittal will establish a 250 MW wind, 300 MW solar, and 300 MWh integrated battery storage project in Bachau, Gujarat.

With the completion of these projects, the company’s renewable energy capacity in India will double to 2 GW. Meanwhile, its global renewable energy capacity will reach 3.3 GW. The power generated will be supplied to AMNS India, the company’s 60/40 steelmaking joint venture with Nippon Steel. ArcelorMittal expects the investments to create jobs, strengthen local supply chains, and further accelerate India’s renewable capacity. Furthermore, the projects align with the government’s broader push for clean energy and climate resilience.
