The BC Jindal Group has announced an estimated 15,000 INR-Crore investment to set up a greenfield steel facility in the Dhenkanal district of Odisha. This marks a major expansion in India’s downstream steel manufacturing sector. The project will be executed in three phases by 2030 through its wholly owned subsidiary, Jindal India Steel Tech Limited (JISTL).
In Phase 1, the company will invest 2,500 INR-Crore to establish a state-of-the-art plant. Moreover, it will feature a Cold Rolling Mill (CRM), Continuous Galvanising Line (CGL), and Colour Coating Line (CCL). This phase will deliver an annual capacity of 9.6 Lakh-Tonnes by 2027. Meanwhile, future phases will scale the flat product division to 30 Lakh-Ttonnes per annum and include a steel pipe manufacturing unit with a 2 Lakh-Tonne annual capacity.

The Jindal Odisha steel facility is designed to produce high-value coated steel products for applications in construction, automotive, appliances, and infrastructure. It will also reduce import dependency and support the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. With this investment, the BC Jindal Group aims to reinforce its position in India’s industrial landscape while generating thousands of jobs and catalyzing regional development.
