The Bihar Government has launched the 882.87 INR-Crore Janaki Temple redevelopment project at Punauradham, Sitamarhi. The initiative aims to transform the site into a major spiritual and cultural hub, mirroring the grandeur of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple.

Spread across an anticipated 67 Acres, the project will include a 151 Ft-high main temple built entirely with red sandstone from Bansi Paharpur, Rajasthan. The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) will oversee construction, which is expected to be completed within 11 months.

Additionally, the Janaki Temple complex will feature a circumambulation path, yagya mandap, museum, auditorium, cafeteria, dharamshala, and a road exhibition center. Sita Vatika, Luv-Kush Vatika, and Maa Janaki Kund will also be beautified as part of the plan.

Meanwhile, over 137 INR-Crore has been allocated to upgrade the existing temple structure. A 10-year maintenance contract will ensure long-term upkeep. The Janaki Temple project is part of the Ramayan Tourist Circuit, linking Janakpur in Nepal with Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.
