BITS Pilani to set up ‘AI+’ campus, invest 1,219 INR-Crore on infra upgrade

BITS Pilani has announced a major campus upgrade aligned with its new ‘AI+’ initiative. The institute will invest an estimated 1,219 INR-Crore in infrastructure to support advanced tech programs. Simultaneously, BITS Pilani aims to foster innovation, strengthen research, and modernize facilities with this campus upgrade.

Under this upgrade, the institute will establish its new AI+ campus in Amaravati. Spanning approximately 35 Acres, it will be developed in two phases over five years at a cost of 1,000 INR-Crore. Initially, it will support 3,000 students and later scale up to 7,000. Additionally, the courses will include AI/ML, innovation, twinning programs, and cotutelle doctoral degrees with global institutions.

Furthermore, the AI+ campus will use smart design featuring IoT systems, modular infrastructure, and AI-driven services. The BITS Pilani campus upgrade was announced under “Project Vistaar”. The investment will enhance research and learning facilities across Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad. Moreover, nearly 60 INR-Crore will upgrade undergraduate labs while expanding student intake to 26,000 by 2030-31. This campus upgrade by BITS Pilani also supports new interdisciplinary programs.
