Cabinet clears 1,853 INR-Crore Tamil Nadu highway project under HAM

On Tuesday, July 01, the Union Cabinet approved a national highway project in Tamil Nadu in the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). The total estimated cost of this project is 1,853 INR-Crore. The civil cost of this project is 997 INR-Crore, and the land acquisition cost is 340 INR-Crore. 

This four-lane project is an upgrade of the existing two-lane National Highway (NH-87) and will span an anticipated 46.6 Km between Paramakudi and Ramanathapuram. The construction of this project will reduce travel difficulties between Madurai, Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram, Mandapam, Rameshwaram, and Dhanushkodi.

This National Highway project in Tamil Nadu is expected to generate approximately 840,000 person-days of direct employment and 1 million person-days of indirect employment. Furthermore, it will reduce congestion on the NH-87 and improve connectivity, safety, and tourism.
