The Union Cabinet approved an estimated 9,072 INR-Crore railway multitracking plan to expand the Indian Railways network by about 307 Km across four states. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) announced the approval on Tuesday, February 24.

The projects will cover three key sections: Gondia–Jabalpur doubling, Punarakh–Kiul third and fourth line, and Gamharia–Chandil third and fourth line. Furthermore, these upgrades span eight districts across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. Officials said the multitracking plan will enhance line capacity on vital freight and passenger corridors.
