Center approves 10,637 INR-Crore for 19 Road & Tunnel projects in J&K

On Monday, June 23, the Center approved 10,637 INR-Crore for 19 Road & Tunnel projects in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). These mega projects would span approximately 296 Km and provide all-weather access to several districts near the Line of Control (LoC). 

Some of the projects that received approval are: 

  • Peer-Ki-Gali tunnel, worth 3,830 INR-Crore, will provide all-weather connectivity between the Kashmir valley and the rest of India.
  • The  Sadhana Tunnel, worth 3,330 INR-Crore, will allow year-long access to the Karnah district near the LoC.
  • Trehgam-Chamkote section for 966 INR-Crore.
  • Zaznar Shopian section is worth 852 INR-Crore.
  • Lal Chowk to Parimpora, a four-lane flyover worth 700 INR-Crore.
  • A 445 INR-Crore worth four-lane Magam flyover on the Narbal-Gulmarg section. 
  • Qazigund Bypass, worth 95 INR-Crore.
  • The two-lane bridge over Rambiara at Shopian is worth 71 INR-Crore.
