The Central Government has approved an estimated 1,463.95 INR-Crore for the construction of a six-lane, access-controlled greenfield spur in Punjab. The corridor will link the Ambala–Chandigarh section of NH-205A with the Zirakpur bypass spur.
The approved alignment spans approximately 10.3 Km. It will divert inter-state and through traffic away from key urban junctions in Mohali, Chandigarh, and Panchkula. The spur will ease congestion on major national highways, including NH-44, NH-205A, and NH-152. It will provide a high-speed alternative route for long-distance vehicles. Meanwhile, this project is being handled by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The spur will feature an access-controlled design to facilitate smooth, uninterrupted traffic flow.

The government will start the corridor near Rajo Majra village on the Ambala–Chandigarh expressway and connect it to the Zirakpur bypass spur on PR7 (Airport Road) at the northern end. The alignment also includes connections to surrounding villages, improving last-mile linkage to regional roads.
