Chennai to set up 750-bed pediatric hospital at King Institute of Preventive Medicine

A multi-speciality pediatric hospital consisting of 750 beds will be built in Chennai on an anticipated 6 Acres of land. This hospital will be located at the King Institute of Preventive Medicine and research campus in Guindy. 

The State has allocated an estimated 487.66 INR-Crore for the construction of a seven-story hospital building. This will be developed over approximately 3.15 Lakh-SqFt. Additionally, the facility will include hostels for students, doctors, nurses,  professors, and other medical equipment and infrastructure.

The Pediatric Hospital in Chennai will have 100 intensive care units, pay wards, share wards, and suites. Furthermore, it will feature 14 departments, including medicine, critical care, surgery, and gastroenterology, among others. The tender for the project will be floated soon, and the construction of the same is expected to begin in September.
