The Architects and Sculpt Design Studio present Concrete Heaven, a private residence in Saraswati Vihar. The project explores the balance between expressive architecture and purposeful living. Designed under the leadership of Ar. Vardha Aggarwal, Founder of Sculpt Design Studio, the residence reflects a sensitive response to context, client lifestyle, and contemporary residential needs. Meanwhile, it remains rooted in vernacular understanding and Vaastu principles.
Concrete Heaven is a 3,024 SqFt residence completed in March 2024. The home was conceived for a family with a single child. The brief focused on spatial generosity, clarity of movement, and long-term functionality. From the outset, the intent was to create a home that could assert its identity within a dense neighborhood. Simultaneously, it offers an interior environment that feels calm, intuitive, and deeply personal. The architects established functionality as the primary framework guiding every design decision.

Architectural Expression & Facade Design
The architectural narrative begins with the facade, which establishes a strong yet composed presence. The design team used a restrained palette of black, grey, and muted white tones to articulate form rather than decoration. Vertical architectural elements introduce rhythm and depth, breaking the monotony of the surrounding streetscape. Curved surfaces further soften the overall massing and ensure the structure feels balanced rather than imposing. Meanwhile, vertical louvres on the upper level filter daylight, enhance privacy, and reduce heat gain. Additionally, carefully placed glazed openings allow natural light to enter without compromising comfort or control.
The team selected exterior materials based on durability, longevity, and ease of maintenance. The facade responds directly to environmental conditions by addressing shading, ventilation, and privacy, while maintaining a contextual architectural identity. Internally, the residence is organized through a clear zoning strategy. Thereby, separating public, semi-private, and private spaces without rigid physical barriers. The ground floor accommodates shared family functions such as the living area, dining space, and staircase. Consequently, the layout encourages interaction while allowing fluid movement across the home. Circulation remains intuitive and uncluttered, thereby reinforcing efficiency and everyday ease.

Circulation & Systems Integration
The living room functions as both a social nucleus and a visual anchor. Here, a neutral base palette allows material textures to take precedence. Warm wood surfaces introduce tactility and balance, while subtle arched elements soften spatial transitions. Simultaneously, the design team arranged furniture to prioritise comfort and conversation, ensuring effortless functionality for both daily living and social gatherings. They introduced art selectively, thus adding character without overwhelming the spatial language.
Extending from the living area, the family lounge operates as a relaxed and informal zone. The Concrete Heaven uses organic seating forms and curved wall treatments as ergonomic responses rather than stylistic gestures. Consequently, these elements enhance comfort and moderate acoustics, creating a sense of enclosure within the open-plan layout. The staircase acts as a functional focal point that anchors the interior and enables efficient vertical movement. Strategically positioned, it ensures logical circulation, while textured surfaces and controlled lighting enhance safety, durability, and continuity across floors.
Natural light defines the home’s functional strategy – the team oriented and sized openings to maximise daylight while limiting glare and excessive heat. This approach, thereby, reduces dependence on artificial lighting and improves environmental comfort. Meanwhile, mechanical systems are integrated discreetly, thereby preserving ceiling heights and maintaining visual calm.

Private Spaces & Interior Detailing at Concrete Heaven
Private spaces prioritise rest, storage, and adaptability. Bedrooms follow a restrained design language where comfort and function inform aesthetic choices. Built-in furniture and integrated storage solutions reduce visual clutter and support long-term usability.
The team selected surface finishes for durability, tactile quality, and ease of upkeep. Across the residence, restraint defines the overall approach. The design eliminates excess and avoids visual distraction. Every element supports daily use, longevity, and spatial clarity. Curated art and artefacts allow architecture and space to remain the primary focus.
Concrete Heaven embodies Sculpt Design Studio’s approach to residential architecture. It is contextual, client-driven, and function-first. Rather than relying on spectacle, the home achieves presence through planning precision. It further prioritizes material honesty and thoughtful execution. The result is a residence that feels composed, effortless, and enduring, offering comfort, flexibility, and a strong sense of belonging.
