The Delhi Government has proposed an estimated 3,000 INR-Crore elevated road project over the Munak Canal. This will span nearly 20 Km from Bawana to Inderlok. The corridor aims to ease congestion in North and Northwest Delhi and improve connectivity to central zones.

The project will benefit 18 assembly constituencies, two Lok Sabha seats, and 35 municipal wards. It promises signal-free travel and up to 40% reduction in commute time. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will execute the project, while Delhi’s PWD will manage funding and land clearance. A detailed project report is underway and expected within three months. Once approved, construction will take three years.

The Munak Canal currently supplies water to nearly 2 Million residents. However, its open structure and poor maintenance have led to pollution and water flow issues. By constructing the elevated road, the government also plans to take over Munak canal upkeep from Haryana’s Irrigation Department.
