FedEx to invest 2,500 INR-Crore in automated air cargo hub at Navi Mumbai international airport

FedEx Corporation has announced an estimated investment of 2,500 INR-Crore to set up an automated air cargo hub at Navi Mumbai International Airport. The company held the groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, February 18. 

The proposed facility will span nearly 3 Lakh-SqFt within the airport premises. FedEx will develop the hub in collaboration with Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. The company said the hub will feature advanced automated sorting systems. It will include high-speed screening technology and digital shipment tracking infrastructure. Dedicated aircraft parking bays will support faster turnaround times. Consequently, the facility will process both inbound and outbound shipments simultaneously.

Initially, the facility will function as a regional consolidation and distribution center. Later, it will connect India with Southeast Asia, West Asia, Europe, and the United States through FedEx’s global network. The hub will support key sectors such as electronics, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, and perishables. Moreover, the facility is expected to create over 6,000 direct and indirect jobs across logistics, warehousing, and allied services. FedEx air cargo investment aligns with its long-term India expansion strategy. The hub will serve as a high-capacity gateway for domestic and international freight.
