Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Monday, March 23, laid the foundation stone for the estimated 1.36 INR-Trillion AMNS steel plant in Anakapalli. This marks the beginning of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AMNS) India’s largest industrial facility in the country.
The state government has allocated over 5,000 Acres for the project. The AMNS steel plant in Anakapalli will be developed in two phases, with a total production capacity of 17.8 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA). The first phase, set to be completed by December 2028, will have a capacity of 7.3 MTPA. The first blast furnace is expected to be ready by June 2028, followed by the second furnace in December 2030. Moreover, in the second phase, production capacity will be expanded to 10.5 MTPA.

The project also includes the construction of a captive port at an estimated 11,198 INR-Crore and a four-lane road connecting the plant to the national highway. This will further ensure seamless logistics and infrastructure support. Once operational, the AMNS steel plant in Anakapalli will transform the region into a major steel hub. Moreover, it will drive industrial growth, employment, and economic development in Andhra Pradesh.
