The Union Cabinet on Tuesday, August 12, approved four chip plant semiconductor projects, investing an estimated 4,594 INR-Crore.
These projects will strengthen India’s semiconductor industry efforts. Out of the four new approved projects, two will be in Odisha, while one each will come up in Andhra Pradesh and Punjab. One of them being backed by US Chipmaker Intel defence and aerospace manufacturer Lockheed Martin.

The Government of Odisha approved the proposals under the India Semiconductor Projects. This mission initially began India’s push for semiconductor manufacturing with a 76,000 INR-Crore outlay. Meanwhile, it aims to support companies setting up chip manufacturing units.
