GAIL to invest of 1,736 INR-Crore in Maharashtra wind power project

The board of GAIL (India) Ltd approved an estimated investment of 1,736.25 INR-Crore to set up a wind power project in Maharashtra on Friday, February 27. The project will install 178.2 MW of wind power capacity in the state. The development forms part of the company’s renewable energy expansion plan.

The wind power project will be completed within 24 months from the award of the contract. Once operational, the 178.2 MW capacity will be added to company’s existing renewable portfolio of 117.95 MW. Additionally, the company operates 27 MW of solar energy projects across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The GAIL wind power investment further supports the company’s target to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2035. Furthermore, it plans to scale its renewable energy capacity up to 3.4 GW by 2035.
