GHCL Ltd, India’s second-largest soda ash producer, will invest an estimated 6,500 INR-Crore to establish a new greenfield soda ash plant in Kutch, Gujarat. The GHCL soda ash plant expansion aims to nearly double the company’s production capacity to 2.3 Million Tonnes per year by 2030.
Meanwhile, construction will begin in the next six to seven months. The two-phased plant, spread over a large area in Kutch, will add 1.1 Million Tonnes to the current 1.2 Million Tonnes capacity. Moreover, it will have a dense soda ash facility designed for India’s growing solar glass industry. GHCL will use advanced technology to ensure high energy efficiency, low carbon emissions, and full environmental compliance.

Almost all major formalities have been completed, and environmental clearance has been obtained. Once operational, the GHCL soda ash plant will support India’s green energy goals and Make in India initiatives. Additionally, GHCL is expanding into bromine and vacuum salt production, using AI and waste-energy solutions to boost efficiency. The project positions GHCL as a leader in sustainable chemical manufacturing, driving long-term growth and innovation.
