The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has awarded a contract worth an estimated 104.95 INR-Crore to build a new stormwater drain network in sectors 76–80. The work will start on November 8 and is expected to finish within 30 months. This project is part of GMDA’s master drainage plan for the Gurugram–Manesar region. It aims to manage rainwater better and reduce flooding in key areas of the city.

The development will take place in two phases to ensure steady progress. Phase I will cover sectors 77–80 and NH-48, from Rampura Chowk to Kherki Daula, with a 13.86 Km drainage network. Phase II will include the Sector 75A/76 dividing road and the Manesar–Rampura Chowk stretch, adding another 4.52 Km. GMDA officials said the project will help stop waterlogging along NH-48 service roads and nearby sectors. It aims to fix drainage issues that have troubled the area for years.

Emphasizing the broader goal, R.S. Jangra, Chief Engineer (Infrastructure-II), GMDA said the new system will greatly enhance Gurugram’s drainage capacity and reduce flooding during the monsoon. Additionally, the new stormwater drain will follow natural ground slopes and link with existing drains along the Central Peripheral Road (CPR) and Northern Peripheral Road (NPR) to ensure smooth water flow.
