The Goa Government has announced plans to redevelop the Margao Bus Stand under a 251 INR-Crore Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The project will follow the Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) approach to create a world-class transport hub. Authorities have invited bids for the project, which aims to improve passenger experience and boost the city’s infrastructure.

Under the plan, the Margao Bus Stand will feature bus bays, a KTCL depot, parking areas, a fuel station, a workshop, and halting zones. The design also includes air-conditioned waiting lounges with free Wi-Fi, separate toilets, baby-feeding rooms, and wheelchair access. Additionally, there will be drinking water facilities, help desks, baggage trolleys, eateries, kiosks, and shopping spaces. Around 650 parking slots will be available, including space for over 500 two-wheelers and 100 four-wheelers, ensuring smooth traffic management.

The concession period is set for a minimum of 33 years for the bus port and 57 years for the business complex, after which the facilities will return to the state in good condition. The project will cover more than 46,000 SqM and showcase an architectural design inspired by Goan culture. With this redevelopment, the Margao Bus Stand is set to become a modern, commuter-friendly hub that supports urban growth and enhances public transport efficiency.
