Government approves proposal by Micron Semiconductor to set up SEZ

On Monday, June 9, the government approved the proposals from Micron Semiconductor Technology India and Hubballi Durable Goods, Cluster (Aequs Group) for setting up SEZs for manufacturing semiconductors and electronic components. 

SEZ facility by Micron Semiconductor would be located in Sanand, Gujarat. The project spans over an anticipated 37.64 Ha (Hectares) with an estimated investment of 13,000 INR-Crore. Meanwhile, Aequs will establish its SEZ in Dharwad, Karnataka, over an area of 11.55 Ha, with an estimated investment of 100 INR-Crore

The Board of Approval for SEZs had accorded approval to the proposed projects on June 3, said the Commerce Ministry in a statement. Furthermore, the government has amended specific rules to promote investments and boost manufacturing in these high-technology sectors.
