The Government has cleared six chip manufacturing projects worth an estimated 1.55 Lakh INR-Crore under the Semicon India Programme. These initiatives are expected to generate over 27,000 direct skilled jobs, marking a major milestone in the country’s semiconductor ambitions.
The approved chip manufacturing projects span fabrication, assembly, testing, and packaging units. They include proposals from leading players such as Tata Electronics, CG Power (in partnership with Renesas), and Micron. The projects will be located in states like Gujarat and Assam, with the first 28 NM chip fab coming up in Dholera.
