The Gujarat Cabinet has approved a major infrastructure upgrade with the widening of the Ahmedabad-Mehsana highway into an 8-lane corridor. Spanning around 51 Km, the project involves an estimated investment of 2,630 INR-Crore. Scheduled to complete within 2 years after tendering, travel time between the two cities will be reduced to 45–50 minutes.

Additionally, the project includes several key specifications designed to improve traffic flow and safety along the Ahmedabad-Mehsana highway. Notably, authorities will add 7-Meter-wide service roads on both sides of the highway to separate local and long-distance traffic. The plan also features a 6.1 Km elevated corridor in Kalol, along with 8 flyovers and 8 underpasses.

Meanwhile, all existing overbridges will be widened to 8 lanes, and new structures will also follow the same configuration. The improved highway will ease daily congestion, reduce travel stress, and support smoother movement of goods and commuters. Furthermore, residents of Mehsana, Patan, and Banaskantha districts will gain better connectivity and safer travel.
