The Government of Gujarat announced fresh investments for its semiconductor ecosystem during an industry event in Gandhinagar on Sunday, 1 March. Companies from Japan, South Korea and Malaysia committed an estimated combined investment of 1,600 INR-Crore to strengthen the state’s chip manufacturing base. The announcements include new manufacturing plants and research facilities across key industrial locations in Gujarat.
Japan’s Horiba Group, through Horiba India Pvt Ltd, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a dedicated R&D center in Ahmedabad. The facility will focus on semiconductor-grade mass-flow controllers and advanced instrumentation. Meanwhile, Malaysia-based Hotayi Electronic signed an agreement to set up a 250 INR-Crore electronics manufacturing facility at Sanand GIDC.

The Hotayi facility will produce SSDs and memory modules. Additionally, Hi-Spec Ltd will set up a 750 INR-Crore facility to manufacture semiconductor-grade hydrofluoric acid, a critical chemical used in wafer processing. Further, Kiansh International Technologies, in collaboration with a South Korean firm, will invest 25 INR-Crore to produce gas abatement systems and scrubbers for semiconductor and solar industries.
Further strengthening the value chain, Rohm Semiconductor has partnered with Gujarat-based Suchi Semicon to expand IC packaging and test solutions. Kaynes Semicon, a subsidiary of Kaynes Technology India Ltd, has committed 500 INR-Crore to Ahmedabad-based startup SpectraGaze Systems. The investment will support semiconductor and outer-space imaging technologies. Collectively, the Gujarat semiconductor ecosystem continues to expand, strengthening the state’s end-to-end semiconductor value chain across materials, chemicals, instrumentation, R&D and advanced manufacturing.
