The Haj Committee of India has signed an MoU with the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for the Haj House project in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. The agreement was signed on Wednesday, March 11, for the construction of a new transit and facilitation facility for Haj pilgrims. The project carries an estimated investment of 225 INR-Crore and will be funded by the Haj Committee of India.
The proposed facility will function as a Transit-cum-Training and Facilitation Center to support pilgrims before their journey to Mecca. Under the agreement, CPWD will undertake the planning, design and construction of the facility in accordance with approved project guidelines. The center will provide training, orientation, accommodation and administrative support services for pilgrims preparing for the Haj pilgrimage. Additionally, the project has received in-principle approval from the Ministry of Minority Affairs through a communication issued on January 21, 2026.
