Hindustan Zinc Ltd approved the setup of a 10 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) tailings reprocessing plant. The company plans to invest an estimated 3,823 INR-Crore in the facility. This unit will come up at the Rampura Agucha Mine in Bhilwara district, Rajasthan. The board gave clearance for the project on Monday, August 18.
This plant will be India’s first facility focused on reprocessing tailings to recover valuable metals. As part of its 2X growth strategy, Hindustan Zinc aims to double its operational capacity. Additionally, the project will reduce the environmental impact of wet tailings disposal. It will also improve mineral recovery through advanced reprocessing methods.

According to the company’s exchange filing, the construction will finish within 28 months. The Tailings reprocessing plant will play a vital role in increasing efficiency and lowering waste. At the same time, it will support long-term sustainability goals.
