Hitachi Energy India Ltd has announced an estimated 300 INR-Crore investment to expand its insulation and components manufacturing facility in Mysuru, Karnataka. The Hitachi Mysuru project is part of the company’s broader 2,000 INR-Crore India investment plan. Furthermore, it aims to meet rising global demand for high-quality transformer insulation materials.

The expansion will double the plant’s capacity to produce extra-high voltage (EHV) class pressboard and laminated board. These are the critical components used in power and distribution transformers. As part of its sustainability goals, Hitachi will replace the fossil fuel boiler at the Mysuru site, transforming the facility into an ultra-low carbon pressboard production unit. It will also house the world’s first fossil-free production line for transformer-grade insulation materials.
