The Telangana Cabinet has approved the Hyderabad Metro Phase 2B project, estimated at 19,579 INR-Crore. The expansion will cover 86.1 Km across three key corridors, improving urban mobility and reducing congestion.
The Hyderabad Metro Phase 2B will include:
- Corridor 1: Shamshabad Airport to Future City (39.6 Km)
- 24.5 Km, Corridor 2: Jubilee Bus Station to Medchal
- Corridor 3: Jubilee Bus Station to Shamirpet (22 Km)

The project will be jointly executed by the Telangana government and the central government. Officials will submit proposals for final approval and funding. This phase complements Hyderabad Metro Phase 2A, which spans five routes and is estimated at 24,269 INR-Crore. Together, Phases 2A and 2B will create a 162.5 Km metro network across eight corridors, with a combined investment of 43,848 INR-Crore.
The expansion aims to enhance public transport accessibility, particularly benefiting commuters in Hyderabad’s northern suburbs. It will also improve connectivity to Shamshabad Airport, a key economic hub. With the approval of Hyderabad Metro Phase 2B, Telangana moves closer to a modernized transit system, supporting sustainable urban development and efficient mobility.
