The Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) has revived the long-stalled Marina project after years of delay. The agency released a fresh global tender and set January 2029 as the completion deadline. This step followed the launch of the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal, now the country’s largest.

MbPA has planned the Marina project across 12 (Ha) Hectares of sea space. It will hold up to 424 yachts of different sizes. This will make it the first International-standard Marina in India. Although the original plan followed the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, private interest remained low.

To move forward, MbPA decided to fund the Marina project using 450 INR-Crore from its own budget. An Operation & Maintenance (O&M) partner will manage the facility once it’s ready. Moreover, the selected O&M partner must invest 400 INR-Crore to develop 4.2 (Ha) Hectares of land. This will include a modern clubhouse, yacht repair zones, water and fuel bunkering, a luxury hotel, and a global-standard restaurant. The EPC tender is open until October 15. Construction will likely begin in January 2026 after receiving required approvals.
