Planned as a long-term solution to rising congestion and urban expansion, the Jaipur Metro has steadily evolved into a key component of the city’s transport infrastructure. The metro network is designed to improve connectivity across major residential, commercial, and institutional hubs. This further reflects Jaipur’s transition towards a more structured and sustainable urban mobility framework.
Project Overview:
The Jaipur Metro is being implemented by the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation, with construction executed in phases. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) acts as the general consultant for all the packages of the metro rail project.
The operational Jaipur Metro route currently runs along the Pink Line, connecting Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar. This stretch forms the backbone of the city’s metro rail project and links residential zones with commercial and heritage areas.
The corridor (Phase 1) has been developed in two segments:
- Phase 1A: Mansarovar to Chandpole
- Phase 1B: Chandpole to Badi Chaupar
The operational stretch connects Mansarovar in the southwest to Badi Chaupar in the walled city. It further passes through major nodes including Civil Lines, Railway Station, and Sindhi Camp. Moreover, the underground section in the old city was a critical engineering intervention, designed to preserve Jaipur’s historic urban fabric while enabling modern transit access.
Expansion Plans and Future Corridors of the Jaipur Metro
To address increasing ridership demand and extend coverage, further expansion is planned under Phase 1C and Phase 1D. These extensions aim to push the network towards Ajmer Road and Sitapura. These will further cover emerging residential and industrial zones.
Phase 1C: Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar Extension
The Jaipur Metro Phase 1C project focuses on extending the corridor from Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar, improving connectivity within the eastern part of the city.

- Type: Underground (2.26 Km) & Elevated (0.59 Km)
- Stations: 2
- Stations List: Ramganj Chaupar (underground), Transport Nagar (elevated)
- Construction Period: 2024 – 2027
- Estimated Cost: 980 INR-Crore
The scope of Phase 1C includes the development of an elevated ramp, viaduct, and the Transport Nagar station. It will also include entry-exit structures, architectural finishing, drainage systems, and E&M works.
As of March 2026, nearly 70% of construction work is complete, with ancillary works progressing simultaneously. Meanwhile, Afcons Infrastructure Limited and Sam India Builtwell Private Limited serve as the civil works contractor for this project.
Phase 1D: Mansarovar to Ajmer Road Chauraha
The Jaipur Metro Phase 1D marks a strategic westward extension of the Pink Line Jaipur corridor, strengthening connectivity towards Ajmer Road.
- Route: Mansarovar to Ajmer Road Chauraha (200 Feet Bypass)
- Length: 1.35 Km
- Type: Elevated
- Stations: 1 (Ajmer Road Chauraha)
- Construction Period: 2024 – 2027 (28 months)
- Estimated Cost: 204 INR-Crore
Phase 1D involves the construction of an elevated viaduct, loop line, and station infrastructure, along with associated civil and E&M works.
As of March 2026, around 70% of construction is complete, positioning Phase 1D as a key near-term addition to the Jaipur Metro route. Meanwhile, Sam India Builtwell Private Limited serves as the civil works contractor for this project. The extension is expected to unlock connectivity in rapidly developing western corridors.
Phase 2: Sitapura to Ambabari Corridor (Orange Line)
Jaipur Metro Phase 2 represents a major expansion beyond the existing Pink Line, introducing a new north-south corridor under the Orange Line.

- Total Length: 23.099 Km
- Stations: 20 (15 elevated, 5 underground)
Package 2C-01 (Sitapura Segment):
- Key Stations: Prahladpura, Manpura, Bilwa Kalan, Bilwa, Goner Mod, Sitapura, JECC, Kumbha Marg, Haldighati Gate, Pinjrapole Gaushala
- Construction Period: 2026 – 2029
- Estimated Cost: 918 INR-Crore
The contract for this package has been awarded to Ceigall India Ltd. in a joint venture with Sam India Builtwell Private Limited. Meanwhile, the scope includes the design and construction of elevated viaducts and ten elevated stations. Moreover, it will feature a spur line towards the depot. Initial site setup activities are expected to commence shortly.
