Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi confirmed that land acquisition for the proposed 40,000 INR-Crore mega steel plant will commence shortly. The project, a joint venture between JSW Group and South Korean steel giant POSCO, will be located in Keonjhar district.
Furthermore, it is expected to have an initial production capacity of 5 Million Tonnes per Annum (MTPA). The authorities have identified two land parcels – one near Taramakant and another at Patna village. The company has already deposited the required funds, signaling that the Odisha mega steel plant is moving ahead with urgency.

The Odisha mega steel plant marks a transformative step for Keonjhar, positioning it as a future hub for large-scale industrial development. Moreover, it is part of a broader industrial push, including nine additional ventures and national highway expansions. A task force led by the Chief Secretary has been formed to expedite approvals and resolve land and forest-related issues.
