Maharashtra cabinet approves 162.5 Km Nagpur Gondia expressway at 3,162 INR-Crore

The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the construction of a 162.5 Km access-controlled Nagpur Gondia expressway, with a total estimated investment of 3,162 INR-Crore. The project will be executed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and is designed to drastically reduce travel time between Nagpur and Gondia from over three hours to just 75 minutes.

The expressway will pass through 115 villages across 10 talukas in Nagpur, Bhandara, and Gondia districts. Moreover, it includes 72.5 Km from Nagpur to Bhandara, 72.6 Km from Bhandara to Gondia, a 3.765 Km spur to Tiroda, and a 13.712 Km Gondia outer bypass.

Infrastructure highlights of the Nagpur Gondia expressway include:

  • 26 flyovers
  • 15 major bridges
  • 63 minor bridges
  • 71 culvert crossings
  • 8 animal underpasses
  • 8 interchanges at Gavsi, Panchgaon, Thana, Rotary, Panjra, Paldongri, Lohari, and Savri

The project is part of the broader 701 Km Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, linking Nagpur to Mumbai. It aims to further integrate tribal and underdeveloped regions into the mainstream economy. Meanwhile, it also aims to promote industrial growth and enhance regional mobility.
