The Central Government has sanctioned an estimated 951.27 INR-Crore for the construction of the Tura bypass, which will connect NH-127B to NH-217. Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced that this road will span 29.03 Km in the Tura district.
The planned Tura bypass will start near Sanchonggre village on NH-127B and connect to Jenggitchakgre village on NH-217. This would create an alternative route that avoids the heavily developed and traffic-clogged center of Tura town. The existing route faces challenges such as limited road width and high traffic volume, which hinder smooth movement.

This new route would significantly reduce the burden on Tura’s internal roads, leading to less congestion and improved traveller efficiency. This project mainly aims to boost road safety and promote regional connectivity.
