The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (Metro Water) has floated a tender worth about 800 INR-Crore for the sewer network upgrade across Adyar, Teynampet and Kodambakkam zones. The tender was issued on Saturday, March 7. The initiative aims to modernize ageing sewer infrastructure and improve wastewater management across densely populated neighbourhoods.

Under the proposed works, Metro Water will replace old sewer pipelines and construct new underground sewer lines across multiple localities. The project will also include the development of new manholes, pumping infrastructure and associated sewer network components. Additionally, authorities will upgrade damaged pipelines and improve the overall sewage conveyance system to ensure efficient wastewater flow. The tender also covers the restoration of roads and surface infrastructure after the pipeline works are completed.
