Chief Minister M K Stalin, on Thursday, February 05, laid the foundation stone for 2 water projects worth an estimated 932 INR-Crore in Chennai. The water projects in Chennai focus on upgrading key systems and expanding coverage.
One project will upgrade the Puzhal Water Treatment Plant from 300 MLD to 310 MLD at an estimated cost of 555.88 INR-Crore. The second project will implement a continuous drinking water supply in the Adyar Zone. Furthermore, this work will cover Pallipattu and Thiruvanmiyur at a cost of around 376.12 INR-Crore.

Chennai will receive a more reliable supply with fewer disruptions through these water projects. Improved capacity will support population growth and daily demand. Additionally, these projects will enhance public health, urban resilience, and quality of life.
