The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has initiated the tender process for an estimated 440 INR-Crore worth of water projects ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela. These water projects at Kumbh aim to secure an additional 250 MLD to meet rising demand during the 2026–2028 religious gathering.

The Kumbh water projects will include a new pumping station at Mukane dam and a water treatment plant at Vilholi. These will expand the city’s water lifting capacity from 137 MLD to 411 MLD. Additionally, new pipelines will connect Vilholi WTP to Sadhugram and Nilgiri WTP in Panchavati. This infrastructure will support both pilgrims and residents during the Kumbh water projects rollout.

Furthermore, the projects will tap unused capacity at Mukane Dam, which currently has significant potential. The civic body plans to complete the tender process swiftly to ensure timely execution. Meanwhile, officials expect the new facilities to serve the city for the next 15 years. Notably, the initiative aligns with broader infrastructure upgrades for the Kumbh Mela.
