Maharashtra approves 6,500 INR-Crore investment for Hi-Tech ‘New Nagpur’ Development

The Maharashtra state cabinet has approved a 6,500 INR-Crore plan for the new Nagpur development. It will transform Hingna taluka into a modern commercial and corporate district. The project spans 692.06 Hectares (Ha) in Godhani and Ladgaon and will feature an International Business and Finance Center (IBFC). It aims to draw startups, corporates, and knowledge-based industries to the region.

The project will be steered by the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA), while NBCC (India) Ltd has been appointed as the project consultant. Moreover, funding will come through a HUDCO loan backed by the state government, with 3,000 INR-Crore reserved for land purchase and 3,500 INR-Crore allocated for Phase I development.

The New Nagpur development will feature India’s first underground utility tunnel system for power, water, telecom, gas, and waste management. It will also include green urban planning, smart utilities, and a single-window system for quick project approvals. The plan aims to create over 5 lakh jobs and reduce talent migration from the region. It also seeks to position Nagpur as a major business and innovation hub for Maharashtra and Central India
