The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken a major step forward by launching tenders worth an estimated 8,532 INR-Crore for the new northern ring road around Hyderabad. This 6-lane access-controlled expressway is part of the Regional Ring Road project in Hyderabad. It will be developed under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).

The project stretches from Girmapur village in Sangareddy to Reddipalle village in Medak, covering 34.518 Km in Telangana for the first package of the northern segment. Additionally, land acquisition is already 98% complete, with 6,000 INR-Crore allocated for land acquisition (3,000 INR-Crore state government + 3,000 INR-Crore central government) through Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO). Tenders are expected to be finalised by January 16, 2026, and construction could begin by mid-2026.

Once completed, the Regional Ring Road in Hyderabad will reduce congestion on the Outer Ring Road. Moreover, it will improve connectivity between Sangareddy, Medak, and nearby districts, allowing faster movement of goods and passengers. The project will create thousands of jobs, boost industrial growth, and increase land values along the corridor.
