The Odisha Government on Friday, January 9, approved a major renewable energy investment for setting up a 10 GW ingot-wafer and 5 GW solar cell plant. The proposed project will have an estimated investment of 10,000 INR-Crore.
The facility will be developed by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) in Ganjam district. The approval comes just two days after Andhra Pradesh cleared a similar 10 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing facility worth 6,675 INR-Crore, also by TPREL. Together, these projects highlight the growing push for domestic solar manufacturing in India.
