Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a significant development wave in Bihar. The projects are valued at an estimated 36,000 INR-Crore. During his visit to the Purnea district, he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a wide array of initiatives. These projects cover key sectors like energy, water, railways, and aviation.
The projects are strategically located to benefit various regions across Bihar. PM Modi inaugurated the new Interim Terminal Building at Purnea Airport, which will boost passenger handling capacity for the entire Seemanchal area. In Bhagalpur, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the state’s largest private sector investment: a 25,000 INR-Crore thermal power plant at Pirpainti. This facility will use advanced, low-emission technology to provide dedicated power and strengthen Bihar’s energy security.

PM Modi also laid the foundation for the Kosi-Mechi Intra-State River Link Project. The first phase, valued at over 2,680 INR-Crore, involves major upgrades. These include canal upgrades, desilting, and the reconstruction of damaged structures. The project will enhance the discharge capacity from 15,000 to 20,000 Cusecs. This will benefit multiple districts in northeastern Bihar. The benefits include improved irrigation, flood control, and increased agricultural resilience for the region.
The comprehensive plan also includes social and agricultural advancements. A state-of-the-art Sex-Sorted Semen Facility, the first of its kind in eastern and northeastern India, was inaugurated in Purnea to empower small and marginal farmers by increasing dairy productivity. The Prime Minister participated in Griha Pravesh ceremonies, and, at the same time, handed over keys to over 40,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana, ensuring a brighter future for countless families.
