The Maharashtra Government has approved an estimated 332 INR-Crore sewage pipeline projects in Pune. These are targeting 16 of the 23 newly merged villages within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits. The initiative aims to replace outdated drainage systems and improve sanitation infrastructure.
The proposed sewage pipeline network will span nearly 472 Km of collection lines and 90.5 Km of main lines. It also includes eight sewage treatment plants. Villages such as Sus, Mhalunge, Narhe, Pisoli, and Khadakwasla are among those selected for the upgrade. Meanwhile, PMC has prepared a detailed project report worth 1,437.94 INR-Crore for the sewerage system in all 23 newly included villages. This includes replacement of old low-capacity lines and construction of new treatment plants.

Moreover, the project is part of the Centre’s AMRUT scheme. So far, 533.85 INR-Crore has been sanctioned, with 343.13 INR-Crore allocated for sewage pipeline work in Pune. Tenders will be floated next month, and construction will begin post-monsoon.
