Ramabai Nagar redevelopment to began in Mumbai; 4,345 homes in Phase 1

The much-awaited Ramabai Nagar redevelopment in Ghatkopar began on Tuesday, October 1,4 with the bhoomi pujan ceremony. The project, estimated at 8,498 INR-Crore, is being implemented jointly by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA). It will transform 31.8 Hectares of land into a modern and planned housing cluster.

In Phase 1, B G Shirke Construction will develop 4,345 homes at an estimated cost of 1,299 INR-Crore over three years. The phase spans 6.95 Hectares and will feature 11 towers, each with 22 floors and 300 SqFt apartments. Each building will have eight lifts, including stretcher elevators. The plan also includes anganwadis, libraries, youth centers, and fitness areas to create a complete community.

Additionally, the Ramabai Nagar redevelopment project marks MMRDA’s first independent slum rehabilitation venture, approved under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s leadership. Once complete, the redevelopment will integrate with the proposed Ghatkopar–Thane freeway, easing traffic and boosting connectivity.
