Reddy House in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, spans 18,000 SqFt across three storeys. The residence offers far more than scale. Styled by Mita Mehta Studio, the home brings together art, memory, and quiet luxury. As a result, the spaces feel both grounded and expressive.

The relationship between the homeowners and Mita Mehta extends over two decades. This long association created trust and ease throughout the project. Moreover, the homeowners did not define a rigid brief. Instead, the styling journey evolved organically. The family invited Mita Mehta to guide the final phase of the design process. She helped complete each space not only with furniture and finishes but also with emotional depth.

Courtyard as the Heart of Reddy House

At the centre of Reddy House lies an open courtyard that brings light and greenery indoors. This architectural feature introduces a sense of openness throughout the home. Consequently, it shaped the way the interiors were styled.

Each room developed as a story of its own. The design process began with the artworks collected by the family over years of travel and connoisseurship. Rather than serving as decoration, these pieces guided the design direction. Designers drew colour palettes, materials, and textures from them. As a result, every room feels distinct while still belonging to a cohesive narrative.

Blending Craft Traditions with Global Influences

The formal dining room highlights this approach. Framed textiles sourced from Central Asia add warmth and historical character. At the same time, carved wood and cascading light define the setting. Upstairs, antique hand-carved panels from Burma create another focal point. Designers paired these panels with a restored Persian carpet and a piano. Together, these elements introduce a quiet moment of heritage and reflection. Meanwhile, the colonial-style bar reveals a more playful side of the residence. Emerald green leather, weathered brass, and an evocative sculpture shape the space and add personality.

Reddy House integrates traditional Indian craftsmanship with international design influences. For instance, a Pichwai artwork over ninety years old shares space with a console sourced in Europe. Similarly, Burmese lacquerware, Southeast Asian artefacts, and handmade ceramics sit comfortably beside contemporary upholstery and clean-lined furniture. Consequently, each corner feels personal and considered. Yet the interiors never appear staged.

Intentional restraint defines the styling across the home. Despite the scale of the residence, the design remains layered and nuanced. Neutral tones form the foundation in most rooms. However, occasional accents such as plum velvet, burnt orange, and antique gold introduce contrast. At the same time, natural materials including oakwood, silk, brass, and stone appear throughout the residence. These materials create visual continuity without repetition.

The design of Reddy House does not follow trends. Instead, it grows from narrative and memory. Many pieces were custom designed or carefully restored. Consequently, the home feels timeless rather than tied to a particular period. Furniture prioritises comfort and longevity. Likewise, the lighting strategy balances sculptural forms with warmth and functionality.

For Mita Mehta, this project reflects her belief that styling forms the soul of a home. She approaches the process through attentive listening—to the people, to the space, and to the objects within it. Reddy House emerged from that thoughtful process. The result is a home that breathes, evolves, and supports the lives unfolding inside it.
