Rishikesh bypass project approved at 1,105 INR-Crore for 4-lane development in Uttarakhand

The Central Government has approved Rishikesh bypass project for development in Uttarakhand. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) sanctioned the project at an estimated cost of 1,105 INR-Crore on Wednesday, April 1. The 4-lane bypass will be developed on NH-7 in Rishikesh to ease traffic congestion and improve regional connectivity.

The project will span approximately 12.7 Km from Tinpani flyover to Kharasote bridge. It will pass through Bhattowala and Dhalwala villages. Authorities will execute the project under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) mode. The approved plan includes development of a four-lane highway corridor with associated road infrastructure. The project will be completed within a timeline of three years. Additionally, the government will fund it under the 2025–26 budget allocation.

Once completed, the Rishikesh bypass project will reduce traffic congestion in the city and improve travel efficiency. It will also strengthen highway connectivity for regional movement and support long-term infrastructure development in Uttarakhand.
