RVNL–GPT JV has won a rail-road contract worth an estimated 1,201 INR-Crore in Ganga, Varanasi. This major infrastructure development, awarded by Northern Railway, will be located about 50 M downstream of the existing Malviya Bridge near Kashi Railway Station. The project will feature 4 railway tracks on the lower deck and a 6-lane road on the upper deck.
The bridge will consist of eight spans measuring 108.5 M each and two spans of 103.3 M using open web steel girders. The scope of work includes design and construction of the bridge’s substructure & superstructure. Additionally, the Lucknow Division of Northern Railway will include overhead equipment works and general electrical works.

Once completed, the rail-road project will greatly improve connectivity across Varanasi. It will enable faster rail and road movement over the Ganga, reduce congestion on the existing Malviya Bridge, and strengthen regional transport efficiency.
