Scindia launches 635 INR-Crore science and tech initiatives to boost Assam’s innovation ecosystem

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the North Eastern Science & Technology (NEST) Cluster at IIT Guwahati. The launch marks a major step in Assam’s innovation journey. This initiative aims to boost the Assam science and technology ecosystem and make the state a growing hub for research, education, and enterprise.

During his visit, Scindia initiated multiple development works estimated at 635 INR-Crore to accelerate Assam’s growth. The plan includes 455 INR-Crore for 65 new secondary school buildings and 102.69 INR-Crore for upgrading the Chayagaon–Ukium Road. Additionally, 20.59 INR-Crore has been allocated for constructing an RCC bridge at Silonijan–Dhansiri Par Ghat. Two upcoming industrial estates — 14.40 INR-Crore in Kokrajhar and 18.40 INR-Crore in Baksa — will further encourage entrepreneurship and employment generation.

These projects are guiding Assam toward becoming a hub of innovation and inclusive growth. Scindia noted that new investments are turning the Northeast into a region full of opportunities. As part of the Assam science and technology drive, Scindia highlighted that new investments, such as 6,500 INR-Crore in Darrang and 18,530 INR-Crore across the state, are transforming Assam into a centre of innovation and connectivity.
