Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) is planning to establish the first pumped storage (hydel) power project of Telangana near the Medipally OC mine site. The decision to establish this pumped storage power project was taken under the directions given by the State Government.
The detailed project report (DPR) for this has been entrusted to the Central Government agency, WAPCOS. The DPR will consist of the preliminary study on the scope of this project, including geological, geotechnical, and hydrology studies, as well as civil, mechanical, and electrical designs, environmental aspects, and safety works.

The estimated revenue of this project is 3,000 INR-Crore, and it would have a life of 40 years. This project by Singareni in Telangana further marks a step towards the sustainable generation of energy in the state.
